White City 3rd graders were given Candy pumpkins and toothpicks for STEM. The challenge was to build the tallest structure possible that would stand freely for 30 seconds without falling over.

Ad Astra Sports will be broadcasting the Rural Vista-Marmaton Valley game from Moran Thursday night. The game, which we are doing for KIKS in Iola (101.5) is also being streamed at www.iolaradio.com (click on the KIKS logo at the top of the page, then click on listen live.)

Junior High Basketball practice starts today! Boys practice will be in Hope, Girls will be in White City. Bus will leave the towns at 2:50! If you did not play a fall sport, you must have a physical and concussion form signed and turned in to the office before you can participate.
We are hosting the Wheat State League Junior High Volleyball Tournament today in Hope. Admission prices are set by the WSL - $6 adults, $4 for students. We will not be allowing Senior Citizens in for $1 since this is a WSL Tournament. Go Heat!
Tonight is the last night High School Volleyball will play in White City this season. JV will start at 4:00, Varsity to follow, senior recognition, then another varsity match to end the night. At the conclusion of the Volleyball matches, our Elementary Volleyball teams will scrimmage. Hope to see you all there!

White City Third grade Spaghetti/Marshmallow challenge: Students had 20 pieces of spaghetti, 12 inches of masking tape and string, and one large marshmallow. They had 18 minutes to make a free standing structure that would hold the large marshmallow on top without bending or breaking.
Junior High Basketball practice will begin on October 23rd. Make sure all physicals and concussion forms have been turned in!

Mrs. Neweys 7th graders experimented with water and air pressure change today in class with the help of Mr. Charlie.
Elementary students are working on proper throwing technique and accuracy in Physical Education this week! Students were to throw the soft balls from their mats and try to knock down all of the other teams' bowling pins.
Third graders with the help of Yuri and Nino built a house that could withstand a heavy wind. They were given 20 index cards and 12 inches of tape as their only supplies.
We did this after reading The Three Little Pigs.
The Book Fair is coming to White City School September 18th through September 22nd!! The Book Fair will be located in the school library and will be open during school days and right after school and 8:00am-7:00pm on Monday, September 18th and Friday, September 22nd. Students will be making wish lists this week to take home and a copy will be kept at the Book Fair.

4th graders buddied up with a Kindergartener and read them a couple of books this morning. They all did a fantastic job of reading and listening!

Dear Kindergarten Parent,
It is with heavy heart that I write to inform you that Mrs. Joni Peterson has resigned as the White City Schools Kindergarten teacher.
In the meantime, we will have a substitute teacher in the classroom and learning will continue. We are searching for a replacement teacher to fill this vacancy as soon as possible. Please bear with us in the meantime as we will do our best to maintain the learning environment for your Kindergarten student.
