Have you tried turning it on and off again?

Kevin Allenbaugh came to school here in White City in 1995 and graduated in 2004. After graduating from High School Kevin went and worked at Kansas State University as a custodian. Kevin started working at White City in June of 2021.  Starting as a custodian, Kevin knew he could contribute more to the school.  He says, “I worked hard and showed the board and upper management that I had more to offer than sweeping and mopping.”  Kevin got promoted to IT and maintenance director for Rural Vista 481.

One challenge Kevin faces while working as an IT guy is just trying to stay one step ahead of teenagers and technology.  Teenagers are pretty clever.  Fortunately, Kevin is more clever.  Kevin has to stay one step ahead of anyone looking to get around technology security safeguards.

Sometimes, there’s a lot to do.  Kevin tells us that, “Time management is tough with needing to be in two different buildings at the same time, to make employees feel as if I’m here to help them with whatever they need.” Kevin also mentions how typing up emails for teachers and students is hard. He admits, “I am terrible at spelling”.

We are very grateful for Kevin's work here as an IT guy at White City!
