Pizza is the reward. Attendance is the goal.
We had a chance to talk to our principal, Mr Kane Hensley, who informed us that there are a total of 41 students who had 3 or less absences. Those students, who received “Perfect Attendance,” will get to have a few slices of pizza with the Principal on Thursday May 14th.
We wanted to know how long the school has been offering this incentive. Mr. Hensley responded and said, “Since this is my first year as a principal, this will be my first time doing this. Mrs. Griffiths has done this for the last 4 years.”
Of course, we wanted to know his opinion on why it makes sense to offer this incentive. Mr. Hensley says that this started as a reward for the students who have had 3 or less absences. We also asked him what inspired him to do this. He said that they do this in hopes that it encourages other students to be at school on a regular basis in the future years.
