Europe is right here in White City!
On April 29th, 2026, our White City students gathered in the school library to hear presentations from our international students. Celian Van Bemten, from Belgium, and Nabar Valbuena, from the Basque region of Spain, told us all about their home countries.
First, Celian Van Bemten told us all about Belgium. Belgium is in Europe, and is located between France, Luxembourg, Germany, and the Netherlands. Celian is 18 years old. He has a brother and a sister. His older brother enjoys playing basketball. Celian too is also a basketball player. Back home, his school has hours much like those of our school here. School begins at 8 and ends at 3:55 (Maybe Celian was relieved to hear we dismiss at 3:10!) Celian’s dad collects classic cars, including a vintage Volkswagen bus.
Next, Nabar Valbuena filled us in on the details about Spain. Actually, Nabar is from the Basque region of Spain. Nabar is very proud to be from Basque, which has its own language and culture. He is from the city of Bilbao in Basque. In a city like this in Spain, people mostly get around with public transportation like buses and trains. Nabar is younger than Celian, only 14 in October. Here in Kansas, he celebrated his 15th birthday.
We’re better off for having them here! Thanks!
