Once more, Rural Vista participated in the Quiz Bowl season. We wanted to hear all about it from our Quiz Bowl coaches. This year Miss Jane has graciously stepped in to help with Quiz Bowl.
First, we asked Miss Jane how many people usually go to Quiz Bowl meets. She replied, “Probably 5 to 6, that's seventh and eighth”. There are usually 6 to 10 teams per meet. Students have a time limit on how long they have to answer the questions. It’s 30 seconds on math questions, but only 10 seconds for other categories.
Next, we wanted to know who was the official Quiz Bowl coach for the season. Miss Jane answered, “Mrs Griffiths”. In fact, Mrs Griffiths usually has practice once a week. According to Miss Jane, “She usually tries to practice once a week for an hour”. If Mrs. Griffiths can't have them once a week for the students she will do her best to make it up and then, "She tries for two the next week”.
How do the students get to the meets? Miss Jane tells us that it’s a fun ride “on the school owned Suburbans". Miss Jane said she had lots of fun taking the kids and that they were all awesome the entire time. She tells us that they might stop at a restaurant but if they can't they will stop at a convenience store to get snacks or a drink for the ride back.
Finally we asked if she would do this again. Miss Jane tells us that she would happily coach again.
Congratulations! And good luck next year, Rural Vista Quiz Bowl!
