The school year is moving right along.
The 100th day of school was celebrated on January 29, 2026 this year.
We had the opportunity to talk to Second Grade teacher Kim Stilwell. Mrs. Stilwell explained all the details of this special day. She explained that Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade came to the school, excited to participate in activities all centered around the number 100.
We asked Mrs. Stilwell a few questions. We asked about the activities students would participate in. She replied, “To make things fun for the whole school, several cards with the number 100 were placed randomly around the school. Grades 3rd-12th were invited to seek these 100 day cards and return them for a 100 Grand candy bar.”
We also asked her: “What did she do with her students for the 100th day of school?” She replied and said that she read a series of books with her students with the titles, The 100th Day of School and I’ll Teach My Dog 100 Words.
After that, the students divided up into mixed age groups, and they rotated through several different learning stations throughout the day. The learning stations involved sorting 100 objects into groups of ten to see if they brought exactly 100 items, making a snowman with “snowballs” that skip counted to 100 by ten. Next, they made an art project, where students illustrated what they would look like at 100 years of age. They also did a STEM activity, where students were stacking and building with 100 solo cups, 100 dominos, and 100 Unifex cups, the kids also enjoyed putting together 100-piece puzzles after completing their center activities.
For snack time, the students enjoyed milk and cookies that looked like the number 100. By the end of the day, all of the students and the teachers were exhausted from the celebration.
The 100th day of school is always full of fun, but it's very exhausting after doing "hundreds” of things all day long. Nevertheless, we are always geared up and ready to celebrate 100 days again - next year!
