The JV boys basketball team recently scored a big win over Goessel.
The Heat played the Bluebirds at Hope High School on February 17 2026. It was a 6 PM game. The game ended with the Rural Vista Heat beating the Goessel Bluebirds, with a score of 55 to 29. With this, the Heat pulled home the win in their last game of the season. While the Varsity squad will now move onto Substate Finals, JV’s 2025-2026 season is already over.
The starters for the game were: Cameron Mistic, Wyatt Hunnicutt, Parker Challans, Dalton Davidson, and Nolan Effland. On the bench were: Landon Roberson, Jameson Lautt, Nabar Valbuena, and Brayden Hollomon.
We talked to Nabar Valbuena, a Senior exchange student at White City High School. We asked him how he thought the game went. He thought we missed too many of the shots that we took. He also offered an idea of how things might have gone differently. Nabar told us, “We had some good shots, but he said we need to run the offense and make our wide open lay-ups.”
Next, we wanted to get Nabar’s thoughts on the entire season. Nabar thought that the team didn’t come to their full potential, but were still successful. Nabar said, “We had some good and bad games and we need to pass the ball quicker and more efficiently. We also need to go harder in practice.”
