Rural Vista Boys Basketball season isn’t finished yet.

On January 30th, 2026, the Rural Vista boys basketball team played Wabaunsee County (Alma) for Hope High School Homecoming.

We decided to interview Celian Van Bemtem, a Senior Exchange student at White City High School. Celian plays on the boys basketball team.  We caught up with him and asked him some questions before the game.

We asked Celian about his expectations for the game.  Celian thinks success depends on playing like before.  He said, “If we played like we played against Marion where everybody is hyped and ready to go. Also if we all have the same team connection as against Marion and have the crowd carry us on during the game. We will have a good chance to win.”

As the game turned out, Varsity lost the game 51 to 60. JV ended their game, losing by one.

We asked Celian how he thought the game went.  He says that the team was not the best and were forcing the plays all night.  He said, “That was bad. We had a lot of turnovers, didn’t control the speed of the game, and got dominated. We could have won the game so this doesn’t feel the best. I hope we will be better this week against Peabody."

Starters for the Varsity game were: Koden Sanford, Tucker Mien, Kole Reidy, Grant Ekeldson, and Tyler Brockmeier.

The boys are coached by head coach Adam Sobba and assistant coach Chris Kremeier.
