Rural Vista’s basketball season isn’t finished yet.
On January 20th, 2026, the Rural Vista Lady Heat played the Herington Railers in the first round of the tournament in Centre.
They won the first game 45 to 32 and moved on to the second round. In the second round they were set to play the Marion Warriors.
We decided to go interview Atley Johnson, a freshman at White City High School. Atley plays on the Lady Heat team. We asked her how she thought the game went. Atley thought the team was much improved this time. She said, “It was a lot better than the previous time we had faced Herington.”
Then we asked who the starters were. She said “Kaimey Evans, Lillana Stilwell, Reagan Fiest, Journey Peterson, and Molly Hunnicutt.” Additionally, Elsa Barrett. Atley Johnson, and Addison Barnes all came in from the bench to give the starters some rest.
The ladies don’t just play basketball. After the girl’s game, Atley Johnson and Kaimey Evans had to cheer for the boys game against Wakefield. Also Molly Hunnicutt had to take pictures of the boys game.
The Lady Heat are coached by head coach Kane Hensley and assistant coach Anne White.
