Every year, White City High School welcomes two International students. These students typically come all the way from Europe. They come here to see a different part of the world. It’s an adjustment, but one worth making.
We finally had the chance to talk to one of this year’s International Students, Nabar Valbuena. Nabar comes from Spain.
We asked Nabar how he was enjoying the school year so far, his response was “I’m really enjoying school. It’s very different from my school from my school last year; I'm having a much better time here and I'm learning a lot of English.” Nabar tells us that he's made friends here in his new second home of White City.
Nabar is from Spain, specifically from “Bilbao, Basque”. The next question we asked was what it is like back home. He said, “I really like the mountains and the beaches. I really like the city where I live and the town where I spend my summers. But what I like the most about where I live are my friends.
Another question we asked him was what school is like where he is from he said,“My school is much harder; the teachers are meaner and yell a lot. We start classes at 8 and finish at 2. We have one-hour classes with no breaks until 2. At 2 we can go home and eat lunch.”
Thank you to Nabar. We hope he has a great school year. Next year, Nabar will present to the school about his country. We look forward to hearing all about it.
