The annual Veteran’s Day program was held on November 11th 2025 in the big gym of White City school.
As part of the program, our students sang patriotic songs. Some of the songs included “The Star Spangled Banner,” “America the Beautiful” and “God Bless America.” During an intermission, students of White City High School recited five different passages. These passages were done in remembrance of America’s fallen heroes. They read the following passages : “We Owe them a Lot,” “Why?”, “Take a Moment,Take a Moment,” and “The Best on Earth.” The readers were: Malakhi Kramer, Koden Sanford, and Journey Peterson.
White City is fortunate to have teachers and staff who served our country in the military. One moment in the program asked these veterans to stand for recognition. A flag ceremony was done by the American Legion. White City High School student Jeremiah Peterson once again participated in the ceremonial folding of the flag. After the flag ceremony, “Taps” was performed. “Taps” is a traditional piece of music that recognizes the fallen soldiers of the United States military.
The reason why we celebrate Veterans Day dates back to WWI, when it ended on 11/11/18. This was originally known as “Armistice Day.” After WWII, it became a day to generally remember the veterans of all wars. We designate this holiday to recognize their service in defending our country.
Thank you to Mr.Schierling and Mrs. Kasten for their work in executing the Veteran’s Day program.
