We finally got to catch up with Ms. Jane Pigorsch. We asked her how her school year is going so far.  She says, “So far the school year is going awesome. I was glad to be able to see all of the students.

Next, we asked about her educational background.  Ms. Pigorsch says she, “Graduated from Centre High School and Kansas State University. We then asked about her origin. Ms. Jane said she is from Tampa, Kansas.

Then the most exciting question we asked was, “Why did you want to teach in White City?” She said,”I have spent numerous years substituting in the school district (mostly in White City) and thoroughly enjoyed the time that I did that. So when the opportunity came about to become the librarian I jumped at that because I could see “All” the students, and hopefully be a positive influence on them. Mr. Hensley always made the joke that he would get on the full time payroll!  He did his job!!!  The small country school setting sold me from the start.”

Then we asked “What’s your experience in education?” she said, “Substitute teaching and teaching classes in the Crop Insurance Claims Field. We next asked, “Do you have any one in your family who works in education?” My sister worked in the centre school district.”

Then we asked, “What did you think of your own school time?”  She replied, “My own school time was great.  I had teachers that were leaders and they were the ones that I could follow in their footsteps.  They gave me direction and a purpose for education from kindergarten through graduating from college.”  Ms. Pigorsch also adds, “They were there for me to encourage and give me the extra push that was needed.  They taught me along with my parents that “you treat other people the way you want to be treated and show the respect that you expect to receive back.”

Then we asked, ”Do you do anything for school besides teaching?” She replies, “I try to volunteer where there is a need.  My favorite thing is taking admission at the football and basketball games.” Then we asked, “ What do you like to do in your free time?”  Her reply was, “I enjoy going to and working auctions, flea markets, garage sales, spending time with my family and tending to my plants and flower gardens.”

The last and final question was: ”Anything else we should know about you?”  Ms. Jane says, describing herself as, ”Easy going . . . life to its fullest.”

Thank you to our new librarian Ms. Jane Pigorsch for her time!
