White City High School recently got a new teacher. His name is Charles Bogess, or Mr. Bogess.
We went and asked him questions to find out “How is your school year going?” He said, “The year has been going relatively well. There have been a few hiccups along the way but it hasn't been bad.”
We also asked him “What is your educational background?” He responded with, “I have a BS in Information Systems from Park University, and a BS in Earth Science Secondary Education.”
We next asked him, “Where are you from?” " He answered,”I was born in Louisiana. I first moved to Kansas from Oregon when I was 18.” As we were talking, we also asked him, "Why did you want to teach in White City?" He responded with,”The superintendent asked if I would be interested. Small schools offer a different environment than large schools.”
Our chat then went toward his interests. We asked, “What interests you about teaching?” he answered with, ”Setting my students up for success when they leave high school.”
We also asked him, “What’s your experience in education?” Mr. Bogess credits his military experience. He responded, “I was an instructor for 6 of the years I was in the Army, and I taught for 9 years at Herington HS.” Also we wanted to know, “ Do you have anyone in your family who works in education?” He responded, “Only me.” Asking, “What did you think of your own school time?” He responded to our question with, “I moved a lot. There are good and bad aspects to that.
We weren’t done yet. Next we asked, “Do you do anything for school besides teaching?”
He responded, “Not really. Teaching takes a lot of time for me outside of the classroom.”
We also asked, “What do you like to do in your free time?” He answered, “The older I get the more I appreciate just being able to relax.”
At the end of our conversation we asked one more question, “Anything else we should know about you?” He responded with,”I am glad I have the chance to meet you all.”
Thank you for your time, Mr. Bogess!
