On March 4th, the Kindergarten through 4th grade classes went on a trip to see a play at Great Plains Theatre in Abilene. We asked Mrs. Hinkle, the 3rd grade teacher at our school, a few questions about the play.
First we asked her what the play was about, she said, “The play is based on the book Go,Dog. Go! by P.D. Eastman.” Go, Dog. Go! was published on March 12, 1961. Go,Dog. Go! is about a diverse group of dogs going on adventures and eventually attending a big dog party. It describes the actions and interactions of a group of highly mobile dogs, who operate cars and other conveyances in pursuit of work, play, and a final mysterious goal: a dog party.
We asked Mrs. Hinkle if she had read the book in class, and she said, “I have not, but some other teachers in grades K-2 & 4 may have read it to their students. This is especially the case since this week is Read Across America Week, celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss.” We asked her if this book was Similar to Dr Seuss. She said, “It is often mistaken that it was written by Dr. Seuss, but was written by P.D. Eastman.’’
