Job Corp Seal

Greetings,

As we begin to wrap up the school year, I wanted to remind you of the Flint Hills Job Corps program.  Founded in 1964, Job Corps is a program administered by the United States Department of Labor that offers free-of-charge education and career technical training to young men and women ages 16 to 24. All of our programs are hands-on, allowing students to train in real work environments and earn industry-recognized credentials. Flint Hills Job Corps is a great choice for graduating students who are interested in learning a trade after completing high school. Job Corps is also an opportunity for students who have fallen behind on credits and not obtained their diploma.  They may attend our program to complete their HSD/HSE and learn a trade as well.  If a student exits traditional high school without graduating and enrolls in Job Corps, they are not counted as a drop out by the State of Kansas.  Students do not have to wait until August to enroll in our program, we bring in new students every Tuesday.

Flint Hills Job Corps center offers eight career technical training programs. Students may enroll in Job Corps without their high school diploma and earn it while enrolled in the program. Industry recognized credentials are offered in each career technical training field. Students also receive the opportunity to obtain their driver’s license. Staff work closely with students to develop not only the skills needed to get a job, but the career success skills to keep a job.

Our Flint Hills campus is located in Manhattan, KS. The center has dormitories for our 217 residential students. There is also a non-resident option at Flint Hills for local students, who show responsibility, independence, and dedication to their education.

The center also provides basic wellness services to all students who are enrolled. Students receive a small stipend while enrolled in the program.

After a student completes the Job Corps program, career transition staff work with them to help find employment or continue their career path. Students are provided services for one year following graduation.

Please share the attached fliers with prospective students and staff at your organization. Our admissions staff are also available to come to your location and present to your team or prospective students. Virtual information sessions are conducted every Monday as well.  A flier is attached with contact information by location for our admissions staff. You can also check out our program online at Flinthills.jobcorps.gov.
